The work session was called to order by Mayor Warmington at 5:32 p.m. Also present were
Vice Mayor Larson, Commissioners Davis, Spataro, Carter, Shepherd and Gawron.
1. Terrace Street Lots.
City Manager Bryon Mazade gave an overview about the 10 acres of property owned
by the City of Muskegon. Discussion was held on the idea of selling some of the
property at this time, asking for Request for Proposals or holding on to the property.
Motion by Spataro to direct staff to issue RFP’s for Terrace Street lots and to send to
all on the list and any others who may be interested in the property. No vote was
taken on the motion.
The developers and their representatives will meet with the City Manager and Cathy
Brubaker-Clarke to discuss available properties and locations.
2. Proposed Charter Amendment to Change the City’s Fiscal Year.
Finance Director Tim Paul explained the amendments to the City Charter and
answered any questions from the Commission.
3. Any other business.
Commission questioned the hours of operation for the Farmer’s Market and how it is
being advertised. Also discussed the possibility of a sign at the location displaying
the hours of operation. Staff was asked to look into this request. Discussion was held
on possibility of advertising on tax forms and notices, etc. Commission advised staff
to pursue the possibility of selling ad space on these and other documents of the city.
