Meeting minutes: A motion was made by Randy Mackie and seconded by Jon
Rolewicz to approve the November 2006 minutes.

DANGEREROUS BUILDING NEW CASES:

EN-060393- 1660 Dyson St. (Garage Only) – Rosemary Harris, 1660 Dyson,
Muskegon, MI 49442

Rosemary Harris was present to represent case.

Ms Harris stated she doesn’t feel the structure is in danger of collapse. She said the
damage was due to tree falling. Greg Borgman stated that notices were sent on
09/19/06 certified mail and no permits have been issued and no contact was made
with Inspections. Ms Harris admitted to letting some things go and would like until
summer of 2007 to complete repairs. Ed Simmons asked about cost. Ms Harris said
she has to get a loan to make repairs but uses structure primarily for storage. Mark
Kincaid said this time of year would prohibit work. Henry Faltinowski said the structure
isn’t in immediate danger of collapse but if left it will continue to deteriorate.

Staff Recommendation: Table case until June 2007.

Motion made by Jon Rolewicz and seconded by Nick Kroes to accept staff
recommendation.

George Washington, son to previous owner was present to represent case.

Mr. Washington said the house was his family house and his sister sold the house
while he was out of the country. He stated he wants to get the house back because
he didn’t sign off on deed to house and is trying to find out what’s going on with the
home at this time. Greg Borgman asked if an interior inspection had been done. Mark
Kincaid said that it was in need of one. Mark Kincaid said what’s needed is to find out
from Mr. Washington how long the legal proceedings will take for him to get the house
back. Mr. Washington said the house was sold in June 2006 while he was out of
country and he said he has begun legal proceedings and has been in contact with
attorney. Greg Borgman said by looking at pictures it’s going to need a lot of work.
Mark Kincaid said house is blight on the neighborhood. Ed Simmons asked if Mr.
Washington if he knows Mr. Kitchen or had any contact with him. Mr. Washington
said he found out about the house by walking by it and saw the notice and tried
contacting Mr. Kitchen but can’t catch up with him. Mr. Washington said his sister got
power-of –attorney and put his mother in a nursing home and he was out of country
when the sale took place. Greg Borgman said Jackson neighborhood has taken pride
in the neighborhood.

Staff Recommendation: Declare the building substandard, a public nuisance, and
dangerous building.

Motion made by Randy Mackie and seconded by Nick Kroes to accept staff
recommendation.

No one was present to represent the above cases.

Staff Recommendation: Declare the buildings substandard, a public nuisance, and
dangerous building.

OLD BUSINESS:

Chris Carter asked about status on 790 Terrace. Mark Kincaid said we do have
engineering drawings that have been approved from the architect but no permits have
been issued yet. Henry Faltinowski said we are just waiting for contractor to pickup
permits. Chris Carter asked how long have we been waiting. Mark Kincaid said it’s
been about three weeks and if we don’t hear anything by January it will be back before
the board.



NEW BUSINESS:

Greg Borgman asked about 487 W. Clay. Mark Kincaid reported the case is still under
review by various departments and staff and will be coming back before commission
soon. Chris Carter reviewed discussion of case when it was brought before the
commission at the last work session.
