Citizen’s District Council Meeting
City of Muskegon CDBG
Zoom Meeting
Muskegon, Michigan
February 4, 2021

CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order by Veania Coleman at 5:44 pm.

ROLL CALL:
Roll call was taken by Samantha Pulos, and a quorum was present.
    Present:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A motion to approve the minutes from September 1, 2020 (Action Item) was made by Jennifer
Ross; Perry Dennie seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
No old business was discussed.
NEW BUSINESS:
     2019 CAPER:
     Covers the time period of July 2019-June2020, is available on the City’s website for
     review. Because of COVID, the reporting period was carried through summer months
     and reported in December, waiting on approval for the report.

       SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
       Sharonda Carson shared with the group the reason for the CDC Board, as required by
       HUD because of the CDBG funding received by the City of Muskegon. She encouraged
       the group to share information gained with their neighbors as they act as members of the
       advisory board CDC.

       NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCTIONS:
         • Perry Dennie – born and raised in Muskegon, he has a lot of family in the area
            and is committed to being active in the community.
         • Paul Kurdziel – taught in Muskegon Public Schools, life-long resident, decided to
            sit on board to contribute to the community in a constructive manner.
         • Ationza Smith – works with local non-profit, she would like to give a voice for
            minority communities by participating with the CDC board.
         • Jen Ross – born and raised Musk Heights. Wants minority representation on
            community boards.

STAFF REPORTS:
Calendar will be sent out soon to members. Oneata Bailey gave a summary of the schedule of
budget planning and discussions and explained that a new President should not change that
process. A survey will accompany the yearly calendar to get an idea of what kind of activities the
board would like to see happen.

Staff members Oneata Bailey, Sharonda Carson, LeighAnn Mikesell, and Samantha Pulos
introduced themselves as well.

ADJOURN:
Jennifer Ross motioned to adjourn the meeting, Perry Dennie seconded the motion, which passed
unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 6:13 pm.

NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting date is: March 1, 2021.
