APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion to approve the regular meeting minutes of July 3, 2012 was made by L. Spataro, supported

NEW BUSINESS

Case 2012-14 – 430 W Clay Avenue. Applicant: Lakeshore Museum Center. District: National
Register. Current Function: Institutional. The applicant is seeking approval to install half-dome
canvas awnings with 10” valance over windows facing 4th Street and Clay Avenue. They would also
like to install a new sign in the front yard.

L. Spataro asked what color the awnings would be. J. McGarry showed board members two different
shades of green, and stated they were considering either one of those. D. Mayville asked what the
sign would look like. J. McGarry stated that it would match the signs on other museum properties,
and provided pictures of the signs. L. Spataro asked how the awnings would fit above the windows.
J. McGarry explained where they would be hung. L. Spataro asked that any bolts used be driven into
the mortar, not the bricks. J. McGarry stated that he would instruct the installers to do that. K.
Panozzo asked where the sign would be placed. J. McGarry stated that it would be to the right of the
front porch.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to 1) install half-dome canvas awnings with 10” valance
over windows facing 4th Street and Clay Avenue, 2) to install an awning over the maintenance door
in the alley, and 3) to add a new sign as proposed, with the conditions that the damage to the brick is
minimized, all zoning requirements are met, and any necessary permits are obtained, was made by L.
Spataro, supported by K. Panozzo and unanimously approved.

J. McGarry asked about planting some trees on the property. M. Franzak stated that the HDC did not
regulate landscaping.

HDC Minutes 8/07/12 1
Case 2012-15 – 1752 Jefferson Street. Applicant: Peggy Oliphant Stone. District: Jefferson.
Current Function: Residential. The applicant is seeking approval to install a new garage door at 1752
Jefferson Street. A picture of the proposed door style was provided, as well as a photo of the current
door. K. Panozzo asked what color the door would be. P. Stone stated she was going to try to match
it to the house. L. Spataro stated that neither the garage nor the garage door were original to the
house, so he had no objections.

A motion that the HDC approve the request to replace the garage door at 1752 Jefferson Street with a
new door as proposed, as long as any necessary permits are obtained, was made by D. Mayville,
supported by S. Kroes and unanimously approved.
