Regular Meeting Minutes

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner David Wendtland at 4:00PM.
Also present: Commissioner Kevin Huss, Kristen N. Wade, Civil Service Director,
Dwana Thompson, EEO & Employee Relations Director, Chief Lewis, City of
Muskegon Chief of Police and Lisa Vanderlaan, Departmental Clerk.
II. MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by Commissioner
Wendtland to approve the regular minutes of the November 19, 2018
meeting.
Motion Carried.
III. ACTION AGENDA
A. Approve the job description of the Assistant City Engineer. No questions.
Motion was made by Commissioner Huss and seconded by Commissioner
Wendtland to approve the Assistant City Engineer job description.
Motion Carried.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
A. Discussion regarding whether or not the “Rule of 3”, for non-represented
employees only, is applicable for both internal and external applicants.
Commissioners Wendtland and Huss agreed that yes, for non-represented
employees, hiring managers should use the Rule of 3 for all applicants,
both internal and external.
