Regular Meeting Minutes
Monday, March 9, 2020

I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Commissioner Johnny Brown at 3:59PM.
Also present: Commissioner Lawrence Spataro, Kristen N. Wade, Civil Service
Director, Leo Evans, Director of Public Works, Joel Brookens, Assistant City
Engineer, Dwana Thompson, EEO & Employee Relations Director and Lisa
Vanderlaan, Departmental Clerk.
II. MINUTES
Motion was made by Commissioner Spataro and seconded by
Commissioner Brown to approve the regular minutes of the September
9, 2019 meeting.
Motion Carried.
III. ACTION AGENDA
A. Approve the following job description: GIS Technician/Data Manager.
Motion was made by Commissioner Spataro and seconded by
Commissioner Brown to approve the GIS Technician/Data Manager job
description.
Motion Carried.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Kristen Wade mentioned since the last Civil Service meeting the Charter
Amendment (Section 5 of Chapter XV) had passed. Commissioner Spataro
asked Kristen what the impact will be on the Civil Service committee. Kristen
explained that all appeals would still come in front of the Civil Service board.
Commissioner Spataro stated that he understood the amendment as it would
affect the hiring managers and the candidate options that the managers have.
Kristen confirmed that it will give the hiring managers more options for
qualified applicants.
