DESCRIPTION:MDOT PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE NOTICE \nRemoval-Ottawa Street bridge over South Branch of Muskegon River\nPublic Open House \nJanuary 13\, 2026\, from 3-5pm (attend anytime) \nResidents of the City of Muskegon and interested stakeholders –  Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in collaboration with the City of Muskegon\, is hosting a public open house to share details the project to remove the Ottawa Street bridge over the south branch of the Muskegon River. This is an open house format and no formal presentation will be provided. \nWho should attend? – Community stakeholders\, local businesses\, interested residents\, and City of Muskegon staff. \nWhen is the meeting? – Tuesday\, January 13\, 2026\, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. \nWhere is the meeting? – City of Muskegon\, City Hall lobby: 933 Terrace St.\, Muskegon\, MI 49440. \nWhat is the project? – Bridge removal project. Built between 1926 and 1932\, this bridge is a good example of a concrete-encased\, multi-beam steel stringer bridge with a high level of historic integrity and is therefore eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic places. \nWhy is public comment so important? – MDOT and the City of Muskegon are seeking public feedback to help recognize and address any concerns that may result from the removal of this National Register of Historic places eligible bridge and the minor\, or de minimis\, use of the Richards Charter Park. This meeting also serves as an opportunity for public comment under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act\, both of which require the consideration of impacts on cultural and recreational resources. \nSubmit Comments by January 27\, 2026 \nPlease share your concerns or comments at this meeting or by phone or email to Charlie Stein at (616) 574-8531 or Charles.Stein@aecom.com \nWhat is being done to make the meeting accessible? – Accommodations can be made for persons who require mobility\, visual\, hearing\, written\, or other assistance for participation.
