Muskegon, MI – Celebrate the holidays in downtown Muskegon with events happening every week from November 18 – December 31. Holidays in the City is a collaboration between the Downtown Development Authority, City of Muskegon and Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce to promote seasonal events, small business and arts and culture institutions in downtown Muskegon.

“Downtown Muskegon has plenty to offer year-round and November and December are no exception,” says Dave Alexander, Business Development Manager for the City of Muskegon. “Between our arts and culture institutions, retail shops, eating and drinking establishments, social district and sporting events at Trinity Health Arena, there is something for everyone.”

Holidays in the City kicks off on November 18 with the opening of Inspecting Carol by Muskegon Civic Theatre. The Festival of Wreaths put on by the Muskegon Museum of Art begins November 22 and will take place through December 11 showcasing designer wreaths hung in business windows throughout the downtown.

Saturday, November 26 will be a day-long celebration starting with Small Business Saturday. Spend the day supporting local at one of downtown Muskegon’s 60 specialty retailers, craft breweries and distilleries and unique restaurants. Experience the Hackley and Hume Houses decorated for the holidays with tours and ornament and postcard decorating from 3-7 p.m. Join your friends and neighbors at Hackley Park for the annual lighting of the Christmas tree. Festivities in the park begin at 4:30 p.m. including live reindeer, hot cocoa, cookies, live music and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Afterwards visit Hackley Public Library for pictures with Santa and then head over to Western Avenue to see the street light up with holiday lights provided by Lakeshore Legacy Project from 5th to 1st street.
