2026 City of Muskegon Recycling Calendar

2026 Recycling Calendar Now Available – Updated Route Split Introduced
The City of Muskegon’s 2026 Recycling Calendar is now available, and this year includes an important update to the recycling route map. Republic Services has split a portion of the existing recycling route into two separate areas—now labeled Area 4 and Area 5.
This change helps balance route sizes and improve service efficiency.
📍 Area 4 now covers homes from the east side of Seaway Drive to Peck Street.
📍 Area 5 includes all homes located east of Peck street to Getty Street.
Pickup frequency remains the same, once per month, but residents in the revised zone should check which area they fall into for 2026 so they know their correct pickup week.
The updated calendar and map are now available here.
About Muskegon’s Recycling Program
The City of Muskegon offers curbside, single-stream recycling on an opt-in basis. Participating households receive a 90-gallon tote, and recycling is collected once every four weeks on a route-based schedule.
The City contracts with Republic Services for recycling and trash collection. Route adjustments like this help maintain reliable, consistent service throughout the year.
Sign Up or Request Additional Bins
Residents can sign up for recycling through the SeeClickFix Muskegon request tool or by calling the City of Muskegon Department of Public Works at (231) 724-4100.
