Nelson

The Nelson neighborhood is located within the heart of the City of Muskegon and contains the entire downtown area. Nelson is bounded on the north by Muskegon Lake, on the south by Laketon Avenue, on the east by Peck and Terrace Streets and on the west by Seaway Drive and Ninth Street.

Located within the Nelson neighborhood are the City and County offices, US Post Office, historic Frauenthal Center, Trinity Health Arena, Delta Hotels by Marriott Muskegon Convention Center, Muskegon Board of Education, Hackley Public Library, Lakeshore Museum Center, Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon High School, and Hackley Park, just to name a few.

The Nelson Neighborhood Improvement Association (NNIA) maintains two neighborhood gardens. The Mike Miller Memorial Garden is located at 257 W. Muskegon Ave. and the Roger Allison Memorial Garden is located at 1349 Sixth St., near the corner of Sixth and Mason.
