Investigations Bureau

The Investigations Bureau of the Muskegon Police Department utilizes officers and detectives that are trained in a multitude of investigative techniques, tactical response, and technical expertise. The Investigations Bureau supports the Patrol Bureau and is led by the Investigations Captain that oversees the Detective Unit and Neighborhood Policing Unit. Investigative Bureau officers are also assigned to the Muskegon Major Crimes Initiative Unit and the West Michigan Enforcement Team.

Members of the Investigations Bureau are assigned to the division through either a promotional or special assignment process. Once assigned, personnel undergo specialized training that assists with their operational objectives. Investigators are developed to become experts in their field and leaders of the organization.
