Patrol Bureau

The Patrol Bureau of the Muskegon Police Department is responsible for protecting life and property, preventing crime, and preserving the peace. Patrol activities include enforcing laws, arresting offenders, responding to calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement, property checks, motorist assists, investigating, and responding to complaints from citizens.

The Patrol Bureau is led by a Patrol Captain and contains the majority of our law enforcement officers. Each officer is assigned to a 12-hour shift schedule. The Patrol Bureau contains four squads with two added afternoon swing shifts, giving around-the-clock police services.
