Lot Division/Combination and New Address Applications

Lot Divisions

A Lot Division Application must be completed for any proposed lot splits in the City of Muskegon. Lot splits must comply with the current zoning district requirements for the property to be split. A property survey reflecting the current legal description and the new legal description(s), a property sketch illustrating the full property and proposed split, and the application fee must be submitted to the Planning Department at the time of application.

Land Division Tax Payment Certification

A Land Division Tax Payment Certification Form can be submitted to the Planning Department at the same time a Lot Division Application is submitted. This form will need to be completed and signed by the County Treasurer, and the application fee must be paid in order for a lot split to be completed.

Requests for Assigning or Revising Street Addresses

Page one of the Request to Assign or Revise Street Address form must be completed for any lot splits so that a new address may be created for the split parcel. The same form is used for any request to change an address. There is no fee for this service.

Combining Land

A Land Combination Form must be submitted to the Planning Department for zoning approval. From there, Planning staff will submit the form to the County Equalization Department. The Equalization Department completes the land combination process the year following the approval provided all property taxes are paid up to date.
