Summer Employment Opportunities

Below, you’ll find summer employment opportunities with the City of Muskegon Department of Public Works as contracted through Goodtemps.

Beach Maintenance Worker

Performs a variety of facility and beach maintenance, repair, and cleaning duties. Operates heavy duty clean-up equipment such as a loader, dump truck, tractor, and attachments as well as various hand and power tools. Heavy equipment operation experience PLUS a valid operator license with CDL B and air brakes endorsements required.

Seasonal Laborers

($11.00/hr) Seasonal laborers needed to work in Public Works Departments including Cemetery, Highway, and Parks. Will be performing various physical duties including but not limited to:

  • Grass mowing, raking, trimming, and watering
  • Brush trimming and grounds maintenance
  • Restroom cleanup and field preparation
  • Road construction and maintenance duties
  • Roadside cleanup and catch basin cleanup and repair
  • Assistance with special events

Weekend Seasonal Laborers

($13.00/hr) Seasonal laborers needed to work in Public Works Parks Department performing various physical duties including but not limited to:

  • Grass mowing, raking, trimming, and watering
  • Brush trimming and grounds maintenance
  • Restroom cleanup and field preparation
  • Assistance with special events

Job Requirements

Candidates must be 18 years of age or older, authorized to work in the U.S. and in possession of a valid operator license with an acceptable driving record per the City of Muskegon Driving Record Policy. Must be able to meet City’s hiring criteria by passing pre-employment assessments.
