City of Muskegon Winter Parking Rules
Active Every Year: December 1 – March 1
Winter weather makes it important to keep streets clear for plows and emergency vehicles. Below are the winter parking rules for both Downtown and Neighborhoods.
Downtown Business Zone
(See Winter Parking Map for the downtown zone boundaries.)
Daytime Parking (7:00 AM – Midnight)
- You may park on both sides of the street during the day.
Overnight Parking (Midnight – 7:00 AM)
- “Odd/Even” parking is required.
- On even dates (2nd, 14th, 26th, etc.), park on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses (for example, 152).
- On odd dates (1st, 15th, 27th, etc.), park on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses (for example, 153).
Neighborhoods (All other areas of the city)
Overnight Parking (5:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- You may park overnight on either side of the street.
- By 7:00 AM, your vehicle must be moved to the correct odd/even side for that day.
Daytime Parking (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- “Odd/Even” parking is required.
- On even dates (2nd, 14th, 26th, etc.), park on the side with even-numbered addresses.
- On odd dates (1st, 15th, 27th, etc.), park on the side with odd-numbered addresses.
Terrace Parking (Neighborhoods Only)
- If a street only allows parking on one side, residents may park on their own terrace (the space between the street and the sidewalk) on days that parking falls on the side there is no legal parking.
- You cannot park on a neighbor’s terrace.
Important Notes
- All posted “No Parking” signs are always in effect, no matter the date or time.
- Odd/even dates change at midnight, so always plan ahead to make sure your car is in the right spot by the start of enforcement.
- Following these rules helps keep streets clear and safe for everyone.
