Host Your Special Event in Muskegon

Planning to host a festival, concert, race, or public gathering in the City of Muskegon? We’re excited to help you make it happen. Muskegon offers beautiful parks, scenic waterfront spaces, and vibrant downtown areas that make our city a great place for community celebrations and special events.

A Special Event Application is required for any public event held on City property or any event that needs City services (such as road closures, police, fire, or sanitation support).

How to Apply

  1. Submit your application early.
    • Applications must be received at least 45 days before your event.
    • First-time events at Pere Marquette Beach or if Cannabis is being sold or consumed, the event must applied for 75 days in advance.
  2. Pay your application fee.
    • $100 – submitted 60+ days before event
    • $250 – submitted 46–59 days before event
    • Applications received fewer than 45 days in advance will not be accepted.
  3. Provide insurance and permits.
    • All events must provide proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance naming the City of Muskegon as an additional insured.
    • If your event includes alcohol, you must also apply for a Liquor License through the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and Muskegon Police Department.
