In 2003, the landscape of Downtown Muskegon changed dramatically with the demolition of the Muskegon Mall. Following the removal of the mall, a process of reinvention and rebuilding commenced with the Imagine Muskegon Community Design Workshop. The goal of the workshop was “to gather and reflect significant community consensus for a Muskegon Downtown conceptual plan that sparks the imagination of the citizens and the redevelopment of the Downtown.”
