Citizen’s Workshop

The Muskegon Police Department offers a one-day Citizen’s Public Safety Workshop. This program is hands-on and intended to provide citizens 18 years of age and older with a better understanding of the functions of law enforcement and the importance of public safety. It also aims to dispel misconceptions and increase positive communication between citizens and police. Topics include use of force, de-escalation tactics, mental health awareness, K-9 unit, traffic stops and fire extinguishing.

The program is free, but space is limited to 20 attendees. Anyone interested must submit an application and agree to a background check to be considered for acceptance to the workshop.

The last workshop was held on March 8, 2024. The next workshop date will be announced soon.
