Summer DIY Doormat Workshop

June 4 (6:00-8:00 PM) at McGraft Park Community Building

Bring the season to your doorstep! Join us for a fun night of creating your own seasonal door mat—supplies, sweet treats, and good company included. Spots are limited, so grab your bestie and sign up! This workshop is open to everyone 16+ years old.

Father’s Day Craft Workshop

June 16 at McGraft Park Community Building

You’ve made something for Mom on Mother’s Day, so now it’s time to make something for Dad on Father’s Day. Show your Dad how much you love him by making a wonderful project for him to treasure always. Parents of children ages 4-7 are encouraged to stay and assist with their child’s project.

Patriotic Tie Die

June 24th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Smith Ryerson Park

FREE Community Event
Join us at Smith-Ryerson Park for a colorful morning of tie dye! Drop in anytime and create your own colorful masterpiece.
We’ll provide all tie dye supplies and have a limited number of blank items available at no cost, including t-shirts, drawstring bags, headbands, hats, and more.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own shirt, tote bag, socks, or other fabric item to dye.

Reptiles 101: Learn & Play With Real Reptiles

July 10 from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM at McGraft Park Community Building

Youth Ages 3+ (Parent must be present – limit 2 adults per child)

Get ready for a wild, hands-on adventure with our Reptile 101 Experience! During this one-hour interactive program, you’ll meet an amazing group of scaled friends and learn all about where they come from, how they live, and what makes reptiles so unique.

We’ll explore the difference between pet reptiles and native Michigan species, and you’ll get an up-close look at multiple friendly snakes, several small and large lizards, and one massive (and awesome) frog!

Guests will have the chance to see, touch, and even hold some of the animals, all while learning fun facts and cool reptile myths. Photos are welcome, so bring your camera and capture the moment!

McGraft Park Summer Concert Series

The McGraft Park Summer Concert Series returns with seven weeks of live music in July and August, featuring a variety of bands and musical genres. These free community concerts take place at the historic McGraft Park Bandshell—just bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of music in the park.

Wednesday Walking Club

Join our Wednesday Walking Club, running from May 5 through September 29 at 11 AM! We’ll rotate weekly between Marsh Field, Hackley Park, and Beachwood Park—come walk with us and enjoy Muskegon’s beautiful parks!


Senior Art Social Painting

Join us for a relaxing and creative morning at our Senior Art Social, held once a week on Wednesdays from 9 AM to 1 PM for just $3. Whether you’re starting a new painting or bringing your current project, we welcome all skill levels! We’ll have art supplies available, or feel free to bring your own. Come enjoy great company, creativity, and conversation in a friendly setting. Payment due at drop-in.


Touch the Trucks

Touch the Trucks is rolling into Hackley Park on August 20 from 6-8 PM! Get up close to all kinds of big rigs—construction vehicles, emergency vehicles, tow trucks, boats, excavators, semis, and more. It’s a hands-on evening of fun for kids and families! Sensory-Friendly period from 6-6:30 pm with no lights, sirens or horns.

Sport Leagues

There are several park facilities from beach volleyball courts to pickleball courts for leagues to utilize.  If you’re interested in beginning a league at one of our parks, review our sport league policy and apply!
