July 2026 — Jennie

This month, we are spotlighting Jennie, a CSR II within the city’s Income Tax Department. While navigating tax requirements can often feel daunting, Jennie approaches her role with a focus on clarity and equity, ensuring that tax returns are processed accurately and fairly for everyone in the community.

With six and a half years of dedicated service to the city, Jennie has become a trusted fixture in her department. Her daily efforts center on bridging the gap between municipal requirements and public understanding. She works closely with local businesses to encourage compliance with city tax requirements, while simultaneously helping individual taxpayers understand the filing process and resolve their questions or concerns with patience and care.

Jennie’s work is rooted in a lifelong enjoyment of working with numbers and solving complex puzzles. After earning her associate degree in accounting from Baker College, she spent many years building a diverse foundation of experience in various accounting-related roles. In 2019, she brought that expertise to the City of Muskegon Income Tax Department, where she discovered a true passion for public service and community education. Driven by a commitment to professional growth, she is currently continuing her education to complete her bachelor’s degree in accounting.

When she is away from the office, Jennie finds balance by stepping away from the numbers to relax and recharge. She deeply values spending quality time with her family and friends, and she enjoys visiting the shooting range for target practice. On quieter days, you can find her winding down from the day-to-day routine by curling up with a good movie or losing herself in a book.
