This month, we are spotlighting Gabbie Pulos, a Permit Technician within the city’s Building & Inspections Department. While many residents see the permit process as just paperwork, Gabbie views it as an essential roadmap for safe community growth, helping neighbors and contractors navigate the path from a blueprint to a finished project.

Though she will celebrate her first full year with the city this June, Gabbie has quickly expanded her role to become a multifaceted asset for the department. She manages and reviews permit applications with a focus on guidance, ensuring that every applicant has the support they need to succeed. Beyond the permit desk, she serves as a key coordinator for the city’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and manages the logistics for the Housing Board of Appeals, overseeing everything from agendas to official minutes.

Gabbie’s work is a vital link between city administration and public service. By supporting the rental team and organizing front desk staff efforts, she ensures that the department operates smoothly and efficiently. Her commitment to continuous learning and skill development allows the Building & Inspections Department to remain responsive to the needs of the community, fostering a culture of improvement and accessibility.

Gabbie’s path to the city is rooted in a lifelong appreciation for how spaces are built and maintained. Having grown up working alongside her mother and grandmother on remodeling and building projects, she developed an early understanding of the craftsmanship and pride involved in construction. Today, she channels that background into her work for the City of Muskegon, combining her practical knowledge of buildings with a passion for supporting the growth and well-being of the community.

When she is away from the office, Gabbie stays inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of West Michigan. She enjoys exploring local spots around Muskegon, particularly those near the lake, and frequently travels to discover new restaurants with her loved ones. Whether she is staying active through hiking, kayaking, and swimming, or finding a creative outlet through reading and painting, Gabbie finds balance by embracing the beauty of the outdoors and the local community she helps serve.
