September 2025 — Mike Armstrong

This month, we’re spotlighting Mike Armstrong, a dedicated member of the city’s Water/Sewer Department in Public Works, where he has proudly served for nearly 18 years.

As part of the Water & Sewer Maintenance team, Mike oversees major projects from start to finish, ensuring the city’s infrastructure remains strong and dependable. His work includes everything from lead pipe replacements to storm drain maintenance, and other vital updates that many residents may not see directly, but rely on every single day. Mike’s leadership and attention to detail help keep Muskegon’s water systems safe and its neighborhoods protected from flooding and other issues.

Mike’s career path was shaped early on by family. He and his dad worked together as pipe fitters in fire protection, which sparked his interest in pipe fitting and water maintenance. That early experience built a foundation of skills and a strong work ethic that eventually led him to Public Works, where he has continued to grow and make an impact for almost two decades.

When he’s off the clock, Mike enjoys biking around town, spending time on the water boating, or relaxing on camping trips. Whether at work or at play, Mike brings the same energy and positivity, always ready to tackle the next challenge.
