An annual agreement for businesses with a social district permit and the City of Muskegon.

Muskegon Social District Agreement 2026

An agreement between a permitted, licensed liquor establishment in the Downtown Muskegon or Lakeside Social District and the City of Muskegon. The City of Muskegon Commission in August 2020, under Public Act 124 of 2020, established a social district with common areas in Downtown Muskegon. The city’s Downtown Muskegon Social District plan was accepted by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission in September 2020. The City of Muskegon Commission on August 25, 2020, under Public Act 124 of 2020, established a social district with common areas in the Lakeside Business District. The city’s Lakeside Social District plan was accepted by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission on June 8, 2021.

Adhere to the Social District law of the State of Michigan and the rules in the Muskegon Social District (MSD) plans.

Only allow permitted cups with a MSD sticker and with its logo or name to leave your business' licensed premises and enter into the common areas.

Purchase the MSD stickers in bulk from the City of Muskegon at cost by the roll (1000 count).

Educate patrons on the rules of the MSD and help enforce the MSD rules.

Post the approved City of Muskegon MSD rules sign at each public exit.

Provide and maintain adequate trash receptacles for disposal of MSD cups and pick up MSD litter around its establishment

Promote the use of and activities in the district, in cooperation with the City of Muskegon and other participating MSD establishments.

Promptly report any repeated or significant violations to Muskegon Police Department.
