Press Release: Arrest made in Thomas Stewart Homicide

On Monday, December 8, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers from the Muskegon Police Department Crime Activity and Traffic Team located a vehicle near Harvey Street and Marquette Avenue, believed to be connected to a suspect in the homicide of Thomas Lee Stewart. When officers initiated a traffic stop, two juvenile males fled from the vehicle on foot.

Additional officers from the Muskegon Police Department, the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, and the Michigan State Police responded to assist. Both individuals were subsequently located and taken into custody.

Following the incident and subsequent investigation, a 16-year-old Muskegon male has been charged in connection with the homicide of Thomas Lee Stewart.

A second individual, a 17-year-old Muskegon male, has been charged with possession of a firearm. At this time, he has not been charged in relation to the homicide.
