Press Release | Ribbon Cutting Celebration: Kruse Park Naturescape Playground

MUSKEGON, MI – The City of Muskegon invites the community to join us on October 15th, 2025 at 4pm for a ribbon cutting event at the brand-new Kruse Park Naturescape Playground — a play space inspired by nature, featuring logs, boulders, rocks, and other natural elements that invite climbing, balancing, and imaginative play.

The Kruse Park Naturescape replaces traditional playground equipment that was removed in 2024 and represents a new era of play at one of Muskegon’s most scenic lakefront parks. Designed to blend seamlessly with the park’s dunes and wooded landscape, the Naturescape encourages children to explore, move, and connect with the natural world through hands-on, active play.

The new playground was designed with a focus on interactive, inclusive, and nature-based play, ensuring accessibility for children of all abilities. Each feature meets ASTM F1487 safety standards and aligns with ADA requirements. Preference was given to natural wood and organic materials, helping the playground blend into Kruse Park’s rustic setting.
