Norman F. Kruse Park

About Norman F. Kruse Park

NOTE: Kruse Park Dog Beach is closed due to erosion (the beach only, not the whole park).

Located at 3205 W. Sherman Blvd. off Beach Street, Norman F. Kruse Park is a 52.3-acre park that offers approximately one mile of beautiful Lake Michigan Beach and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes.

The City allocates a section of the northern beach for leashed dogs and their owners to enjoy. There are accessible stairs and boardwalks to the beach area and into the dunes. The public beach offers a rescue board with water safety/lifesaving equipment (provided between Memorial Day and Labor Day).

The upper portion of the park is a major picnic attraction. Facilities include nature trails, accessible dune walks and overlooks, swings, monkey bars and spring toys, a half court for basketball, restrooms, ample parking, and four picnic shelters.

Picnic shelters are furnished with charcoal grills, picnic tables, restrooms/infant changing stations, electricity, water, and a grassy play area.

The City has two other popular ‘beach’ parks: Pere Marquette and Harbour Towne Beach.
