About the New License Plate Based System
Beginning with the 2026 season, the city will introduce a new license plate reader (LPR) system for beach parking. This system will allow beachgoers to use their license plate as their parking pass. Enforcement staff will scan plates at the beach for verification. Stickers will still be available for those who prefer them, but the LPR system will be the primary method of validating passes. You either register your plate or get a sticker.
