January 2026 — Jessica Grimm

This month, we’re spotlighting Jessica Grimm, Elections Coordinator in the City’s Finance/Clerk’s Department. Jessica has been with the city a little over three years, starting in August 2022, and plays a key role in ensuring our local elections run smoothly and accurately.

As Elections Coordinator, Jessica supports elections across all nine precincts and early voting locations. She helps proof ballots, test voting equipment, and ensure everything is ready for Election Day, including overseeing the high-speed tabulator used for absentee ballots. She is also responsible for purchasing election supplies, from envelopes to ballots, and assists with applying for grants and reimbursements that help support election operations. Recently, she has taken on accepting CRC applications, continuing to expand her role within the department.

Beyond her core duties, Jessica is always willing to jump in wherever help is needed. She assists at the front counter when staff are busy, helps at the EBT window during the farmers market, and contributes to community events like the Halloween Bash, Cookie Crawl, food truck rallies, and even working the farmers market bar on Saturdays. “I enjoy the extra events,” she says. “It gives me a break from elections—ha-ha.”

Before joining the city, Jessica spent 12 years working for MOKA, an adult foster care company, while attending Muskegon Community College. Her time there strengthened her love for helping people and keeping things organized. That passion naturally carried over into elections work, where she enjoys interacting with people from all walks of life. One of her favorite experiences has been participating in voter education with community members, something she finds both rewarding and meaningful.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys exploring the outdoors and spending time with loved ones. She and her husband took up riding e-bikes last spring, enjoy boating with family and friends at Blue Lake, and love to travel. Her goal is to visit every national park, often planning trips around park locations. When travel is not on the schedule, relaxing at her family’s property in Irons, camping and spending evenings by the fire, is just as perfect.
