Muskegon Development Professional Leads Training at Statewide Real Estate Development Boot Camp
March 31, 2026
Muskegon’s own Development Services Director, Jake Eckholm, will serve as one of the lead trainers at the statewide Real Estate Development Boot Camp, taking place April 27 through May 1 in Muskegon.
The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan (CEDAM) has selected Muskegon as the host city for its 2026 Boot Camp. CEDAM is a nonprofit membership organization that builds vibrant communities across Michigan by supporting affordable housing, economic growth, and local wealth-building.
CEDAM’s Real Estate Development Boot Camp is an intensive, hands-on training designed to equip participants with the tools to plan and develop attainable housing in their communities. Over the five-day program, participants will learn the full development process, from using pro formas and identifying funding resources to connecting with partners and completing a final project pitch.
The City of Muskegon has become a national example of how innovative local policy and collaboration can make development more accessible. Hosting the boot camp here offers a valuable opportunity for attendees from across Michigan to see firsthand how community partnerships are addressing housing needs. As a lead trainer, Jake will highlight Muskegon’s successful approaches, including how to choose the right housing types for a project and how to combine incentives to make developments financially viable.
Whether you are new to development or seeking a refresher on the fundamentals, this training offers practical insights, statewide networking, and real-world learning opportunities.
