Snowy Weather Reminder: Follow Winter Parking Rules

January 21, 2026

The snow keeps falling, and the plows keep plowing! Make sure to do your part to get the streets clear by following the winter parking rules as more snowfall is expected through the weekend.

City road crews are working long hours and following a priority schedule to keep streets as clear and safe as possible. To help crews do their job efficiently, the City of Muskegon reminds residents and visitors within city limits to follow odd/even winter street parking rules.

In residential neighborhoods, vehicles must be parked on the side of the street that matches the calendar date between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

On odd-numbered dates, park on the side of the street with odd-numbered addresses (numbers ending in 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9)

On even-numbered dates, park on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses (numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8)

For example, on January 21, vehicles should be parked on the odd side of the street. On January 22, vehicles should be parked on the even side. If street parking is not available on the correct side, residents may park on their own terrace during odd/even parking days.

In the business district, odd/even parking rules apply between 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street during posted hours may receive a ticket. Always follow posted no parking signs.

Following these rules allows plow drivers to fully clear streets in one pass instead of returning later to remove snow left behind by parked vehicles. This helps keep emergency routes, main roads, and neighborhood streets clear and safe for everyone.

City crews have been out early and late over the past several days working to battle the snow. Residents are asked to be patient and to do their part by parking correctly so plowing can happen as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep us all moving this winter.
